The Motorola XT460 Walkie Talkie PMR446

The Motorola XT460 and XT420 (without a display) and there is no license needed for these walkie talkies and have an excellent price to performance for this type of radio. It is one of the biggest selling walkie talkies we sell and has that Motorola quality. Below is a review of the XT400 series so do watch it as you will learn many features not shown by others.

The Motorola XT400 series can report exactly which channel it is on and equally the channel change if you change channels and that can be useful if the radio is in a pocket for example. Its display is purely a mono or 'black and white' affair that serves its purpose but in reality is a general use display. Developed primarily for business use by Motorola this walkie talkie has become a favourite simply because it meets the requirements of many business users, but it also can be used successfully for leisure activities too.

The XT460 or XT420 are well made walkie talkies and can stand rough use because the unit is very robust in design.

By design the audio quality is crystal clear and loud enough for most use and while the loud speaker is average size, it is quite capable of substantial volume. There are eight channels and up to 219 privacy codes that are important because this is a PMR446 and channels can be used by others.

As far as range goes these walkie talkies can in the right environment reach up to 9 Km range in line of sight, but remember that inside buildings can reduce the range achieved.

The XT460 and XT420 have anti microbial coatings from new that help protect staff.

Also supported is the build quality up to a military standard of MIL-STD-810 C,D,E,F and G and an IP55 helps keep dust and moisture out of the unit.

Motorola have many years of experience in the manufacturing of communications and other devices and they have developed a way to simulate five years of use even before these walkie talkies went in to production thus ensuring a very robust but serviceable radio.
